Family sledding

Here are a few of the fun and free activities you can do this winter!

Ice Skating: Ice skating is free at all Department of Conservation and Recreation sponsored skating rinks in the Boston area. Here is a list of all of their locations. Other towns and communities may offer low-cost or free skating times for public skating - check with your town. You can rent skates at any rink for less than $10 if you don’t own a pair of your own. Skating rinks are often indoors, but they are still very chilly! Consider bringing a snack like this easy to make Trail Mix.

Hiking: State parks don’t close for the winter! You can still enjoy a refreshing hike with your family in the snow. Use this tool to find a state park near you. Remember to dress warmly and keep up your energy with this black bean vegetable soup recipe. We also really recommend you bring along a thermos with hot herbal tea to keep yourself toasty.

Sledding: Sleds usually cost around $10 but they can give you plenty of fun times through this winter and future ones as well. Here are a few popular sledding hills you can visit this winter.
