An Apple a Day

August 28, 2019

When you want a snack and reach for an apple, you’re getting so much more than just a sweet, juicy fruit! In this blog post we are going to take an in-depth look at one of America’s favorite fruits - the apple.

Did you know that the average apple has less than 100 calories in it? That may surprise you given how filling a juicy Red Delicious or Fuji apple can be! Apples are naturally free of fat, sodium and cholesterol - but are packed full of healthy antioxidants, fiber and vitamin C. They even contain boron, which is a mineral that helps to protect your bones.

Apples come in a variety of colors, shapes, sizes, textures, and slightly different tastes - so feel free to buy a few different kinds and see which you like best. Red Delicious apples are the most common of apples and are usually crunchier than other kinds of apples. Granny Smith are green and taste more tart or sour than other kinds of apples. Fuji apples are actually a blend of Red Delicious and Virginia Ralls Genet apples. This is just to name a few of the many different kinds of apples there are!
